The details:

  • Permanent Full Time
  • $71,286 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 5 of the EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Petrie - please note, this position will be moving to a Narangba location in the coming months.

In this role, you'll primarily operate a 12 tonne roller, along with other medium sized machinary interchanging as required on a daily basis. You'll also have the opportunity to alternate between operating a roller, backhoe and/or grader where trained/licenced. Your main responsibilities will involve performing road and drainage maintenance tasks alongside our pavement maintenance team. 

Key duties include:

  • Operating various medium sized plant equipment, focusing on the operation of a 12 tonne roller 
  • Switching between different machines (roller, backhoe, grader) as required/licenced
  • Conducting daily pre-start inspections on relevant plant and equipment
  • Reporting any defects, safety concerns or issues related to the machinary or ongoing projects
  • Assisting in road and drainage maintenance activities 

This position requires versatility in equipment operation and a strong commitment to safety and maintenance protocols.

About you

Ideally you'll have recent, relevant experience in a similar position operating comparable machinary in similar settings. Your application will demonstrate previous experience operating a range of medium plant equipment used in civil construction and maintenance activities, with a particular emphasis on roller operation. You will bring your excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a team and your experience undertaking manual operational tasks in a safety conscious environment.

Safety is also a key priority for us as an organisation, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake the manual tasks required in this role, we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture.

Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold a current truck licence (minimum class - HR - heavy rigid), a Construction Induction Card and Certification in the operation of Roller (LR) and at least one other of the below:

  • Backhoe (LB) - highly desirable
  • Grader (LG) - highly desirable
  • Excavator (LE) 
  • Skid Steer (LS)
  • Front End Loader (LL)
