  • Permanent Full Time
  • $71,286 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 6 of the EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Site based with a Petrie home depot location - please note, whilst this position has an allocated home depot location, the work will be based across various sites within the area and our team members will start and finish on the job sitePlease also note - the home depot for this position will be changing from Petrie to our new Narangba depot in the coming months as we will be closing our Petrie depot. 

About our opportunity

As one of the Multi Skilled Plant Operators you will be operating a range of machinary (predominantly backhoes but working interchangeably with other plant on site which can include excavators and rollers) on a daily basis to perform civil construction related duties. This particular position will be working on Council's projects being delivered internally by our Construction team which will involve lots of stormwater or roads related work. You'll be driving the truck to designated work sites, operating other plant/equipment as necessary (and where trained and/or licenced to do so), carrying out pre start checks on the relevant plant/equipment you're utilising and reporting any defects or safety issues with the plant/equipment or projects as required.

About you

Ideally your application will have demonstrated current or recent experience in a similar position undertaking civil construction operator duties using a backhoe. You'll definitely have some experience operating a range of machines (backhoes, excavators and/or rollers) on civil construction activities. We'll need you to have adequate numerical and communication skills (written/verbal) in order to sufficiently undertake any basic administrative duties necessary for the role as well as to read safety instructions, job plans and to effectively communicate with other team members and members of the public.

Safety is a key priority for us as an organisation, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake the manual tasks required in this role, we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture.

Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold a current truck licence (minimum HR - heavy rigid class), a Construction Induction Card and Certification in the operation in Backhoe (LB) and at least another one of the below listed equipment:

  • Excavator (LE) - desirable 
  • Roller (LR) - desirable 
  • Grader (LG) 
  • Front End loader (LL)
